One of my latest paintings, this piece is of an unyoked oxen, that I came across on a historical farm in the American Heartland. I painted him into a quiet pastoral scene from my imagination. I most often work from memories of scenes, from places that I have been on the backroads of the Heartland country. This piece is painted in acrylic paint on stretched canvas.
Old Stone House
I painted this old stone house and farm scene from my imagination and memories of old houses that I have passed over the years on the quiet back roads in the Heartland.
Newly Published Book Cover, Farm Landscape Art by Sharon France
I was happy to be contacted by the author Brooks Lamb, to license one of my farm landscape paintings as the cover art on his new book “Love for the Land”. This book has just been published by Yale University Press and tells “the stories of small-scale farmers who, despite intense adversity, continue caring for their land.”
Under a Summer Sky
I have been busy with commissioned pieces this year and had a little time between them to complete this new farm landscape painting.
Summer in the heartland is my favorite time of year! I decided to paint this summer scene with an iconic red barn under a quiet summer sky. This painting continues around the gallery wrapped sides of the canvas and it is wired to hang so that no framing is necessary!

I was inspired to paint this painting after passing a newly baled hay field on a back road along the way home earlier this year. There are not many old fence posts and fence lines left anymore around here, so I like to include them from my memories
Horse Pasture Painting
Recently sold to a collector in TX.
I came across these horses in a quiet, secluded pasture several years ago. I painted them into a scene from my imagination earlier this year. One of my paintings from the quiet and peaceful American heartland.
Quiet Country Landscape Painting
To my Little Country House
This original painting by myself Sharon France and is a bit of an imaginary self portrait. I have loved the country since I was a kid, visiting my grandparents remote Midwestern farm. This little girl came from my imagination about a decade ago and finds her way into my paintings every so often. In this scene she is headed towards a little white cottage in a quiet meadow scene.
Along an Old Fence Row
My inspiration for this painting came from the draft horses that I found in a rural pasture a couple of years ago. I painted them into aquiet country scene from my imagination. I miss seeing the old fenced fields and pastures that were common when I was growing up and often add them to my country paintings.
This piece measures 18" x 14" x .75 and is done in acrylic on stretched canvas. The sides of this gallery wrap canvas are painted to match and it is wired to hang, so that no framing is necessary.
